The Wool Shop Newcastle caters for all of your knitting and crochet needs and has been serving the community for over 40 years!
This website has been created to support our customers in the midst of the current pandemic. We plan to continue to provide all the services from our retail store online, so that we can keep you crafting during lockdown and beyond!
The Wool Shop Newcastle was opened in the mid 70's by the Scullion family, and they spent many years in the Old Railway Station shop beside Pick and Save.
In the early 1990s, Frances Cully took over the shop and kept us all crafting through the frilly scarf and mohair jumper years!
When Frances retired in 2014, Margaret Rice took over the shop, and achieved a lifetime ambition; knitting since the age of four, her mother says she was always playing wool shop as a child with her younger sisters
Today the Wool Shop is located in Donard Street, Newcastle and welcomes local customers as well as those from further afield!
We are a small family run business with a commitment to excellent customer service.
We go to great lengths to provide you with the best project your budget allows- whether you're making hats for charity, an heirloom christening shawl, or a cosy Aran sweater for that special someone.
We want you to be happy with your purchases and raring to get crafting!!! Our team have excellent product knowledge and years of experience, to make your purchase and after care a stress free and enjoyable experience!

Our aim is to provide a little bit of something for everyone as well as the inspiration and accessories to complete any project you want to make.
We stock a range of yarn collections from the UKs most trusted suppliers, as well as some of Europe's largest yarn companies.
In addition, we have an extensive stock of haberdashery and accessories, including knitting needles, crochet hooks, sewing needles, thread, ribbon and buttons.
We also have a range of crafting bags and sundries like motifs and pom-poms perfect to accessorise your knitting stash.
We have an extensive and extremely comprehensive range of knitting patterns, varying from the ultra-modern right back to heritage patterns from the 1960's, so there is something for everyone!
Fantastic selection of yarn, buttons, needles. Very difficult to get nice buttons anywhere so it was great to see such a good selection and I got everything I needed. If you are a knitter you need to visit this shop. A warm friendly service. I will be back!!!!

This was my second visit. The lovely lady working in this beautiful shop recognised me and remembered my grandson who I was knitting for. Service was fantastic. I did not feel rushed in choosing what I needed but I knew I could ask her for help Thank you so much. I will definitely be back.
